Instead of loading individual sounds within a single master kit, you load up kits like “Seventies Drummer” and “Eighties Drummer” to get access to a single style of kit with maybe the option to choose from two sets of drums and an extra two snares or so. They are pre-mixed very well but you still have control over individual mic positions and processing within the UI.

I’ve used these when I was in a big hurry and didn’t want to deal with BFD3, and was always pleasantly surprised at how quick it was to work with and how good the end results sounded. So if you don’t already have “Full Kontakt” which is included in Komplete then that’s another expense. But having the full version of Kontakt means logic pro x drum kits reddit free can load zillions of cheap and free Kontakt sounds out there, so it’s a great thing to have.
