Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help. Thanks for your feedback. I have removed all previous office entries. I also did a clean boot disabling all non microsoft services, which didn’t help. I have hesitated to do a clean boot and disabling microsoft services because I am warned that doing so may permanently delete all restore points.
If I delete restore points, will new restore points be created, which would make deleting old restore points a non issue? I have been dealing with a similar issue for the last 24 hours.
I decided to go ahead and purchase the final version and subsequently found installing the final version a complete nightmare. I was never able to install on either machine using the down load method.
One thing I noticed was that Microsoft defaults the download to a clickrun version. From what I can tell the Clickrun version is not a complete install through the registry but instead a virtual install that allows the software to run kind of on its own. Instead choose the link just below that button that says Advanced Options.
From here you can download the 32 bit installer version. Which should be just like the CD. Also, I was never able to install just a trial version. I had to install a complete licensed copy.
Which for me wasn’t really an issue, I had already been trying the beta for several months. I wanted to install the trial to make sure everything worked the way I wanted before cracking open the software.
But that plan didn’t work. I kept getting the message that said I have already tried Office I tried installing using clickrun, the bit Windows Install file, and from the CD all three produced problems. All three versions just kept hanging with no error message. I tried all 3 methods several times, and each time used Microsoft’s clean up tool for Office followed by registry cleaning.
Just didn’t seem to work. Finally on my desktop I noticed during a final install using the CD that there was a new Icon on the task bar that looked like it might contain a dialog box. I clicked the task bar icon and Windows kind of went into the saftey install mode where the background dims. In the dialog box there was a message that said something about “printer spooler not installed” followed by an OK button.
I clicked the OK button and voila the installation continued and completed. My laptop still could not install just hanged toward the end of the installation.
I let it hang for a couple of hours wondering if it would fix itself, but NOPE. Obviously something was running I just could not see it. This gave me the idea to shut down Kaspersky in the task bar. I didn’t just pause protection I chose to exit the application. That cleared up a lot of CPU. Doing so brought up another message just like the one I saw on my desktop. Windows 7 went into safety install mode where the screen dims and the same message popped up “spooler not installed” followed by an OK button.
I clicked OK. Sure enough the install was able to move forward and complete about 5 mins later. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community. In reply to Ron of Canada’s post on July 10, My laptop never showed any kind of icon or message that the installation was waiting on a user response. I don’t plan on duplicating this problem to get all the details down, but I think Kaspersky might have been blocking the message. I usually pause protection or exit out of AV while installing new stuff but I guess I forgot to do so on my laptop. In reply to HwlrMnKe’s post on August 14, Worked great! All I had to do was close the spoolsv.
Very interesting. Kaspersky was causing the problem? Thanks for the info. This site in other languages x.
